An option for covering more forests at lesser costs?
Rapid deforestation and land us change continue to threaten the forests of Asia . In response, countries are pursuing the Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) Agenda. Yet most countries can not afford the high cost of protection and regeneration. For instance, each government forest guard in Southeast Asia have to cover between 4,000 to 12,000 hectares of forest lands (per forest guard).    more

Forest Lives
SGPPTF shares 15 lessons from work with 247 partners in 1,000 villages in 8 countries through the regional synthesis paper entitled, “Forest Lives”. Four cross-cutting themes characterize these lessons: 1) Coping with resource uncertainty, living with social change, 2) Strengthening local forest governance, 3) Supporting practice through policy and collaboration, and 4) Sustaining livelihoods.
